2011 Southwest Theoretical Chemistry Conference

There are many motels/hotels in Lubbock, and for your convenience we have made special arrangemtns at two hotels, the Staybridge Suites and the Overton Hotel, which are both within walking distance of the conference site. Below you will find information and links to these two places, and for other places to stay within walking distance or a short drive.

Places to Stay Within Walking Distance of the Conference Site

A limited number of blocks of rooms have been reserved for the nights of Friday, October 21, 2011 and Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Staybridge Suites and the Overton Hotel. See restrictions and booking information below.

Staybridge Suites:   STAYBRIDGE

There are limited 1-queen bed studio suites available at the special rate of $85 per night plus tax at Staybridge Suites, which includes a continental breakfast. You may make your reservations by calling the hotel directly at 806-765-8900 and ask for the Southwest Theoretical Chemistry Conference block room rate, or reserve your room online click here. The special room rate will be available until September 30, 2011 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.

Staybridge Suites is located at 2515 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79410 (.8 miles, 15 minute walk), and is directly across the street from the TTU Campus.

The Overton Hotel:  OVERTON

We’ve negotiated two ways to reserve/book a double-queen room at the Overton Hotel for you:

  1. A limited number of double-queen rooms are available at the special rate of $85 per night ($90.95 including tax), at the Overton Hotel if you pay for your room with your registration fee in advance. This is the only way you can get the special rate of $85 per night, plus tax, at the Overton Hotel, and does NOT include breakfast. There will be no refunds with this option.

  2. If you prefer to reserve a double-queen room yourself, and NOT pay in advance with your registration fee, you can book online, at the Overton Hotel click here. We have negotiated a limited number of double-queen rooms at the Overton Hotel for $99 per night, plus tax, excluding breakfast. The special room rate will be available until October 7, 2011 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.

The Overton Hotel is located at 2322 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, Texas 79401 (.8 miles, 16 minute walk). The Overton Hotel is one of Lubbock’s newest luxury hotels with its roots tied deep in West Texas heritage and houses the upscale 2322 Restaurant, serving Texas-style favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day’s Inn:

The Day’s Inn is located at 2401 4th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79415, (.9 miles, 17 minute walk) and is within walking distance from the Conference Site. They offer free Daybreak Breakfast™ and high speed Internet.

Baymont Inn & Suites:

Baymont Inn & Suites is located at 3901 19th St, Lubbock, Texas 79410, (1.8 miles, 35 minute walk). They have recently updated their rooms and offer a complementary shuttle to and from the airport, free USA Today newspaper and Baymont Breakfast Corner with Hot Items.™

Woodrow House Bed and Breakfast:

The Woodrow House is located at 2629 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79410 (.6 miles, 13 minute walk), across the street from the TTU Campus. It’s a very friendly, warm and inviting B & B with complementary breakfast for those interested in this type of accommodation.
